About Us
| We started Parrot Island Bird Toys out of our personal love of exotic birds and experiences. |
| When we made the decision to have a
parrot in our lives as a pet it was a
"Forever" decision and we took the
decision very seriously. Originally we
decided that a small parrot was the way to
go and he / she would be the final addition
to our household. Our children had already
flown the coop and at the time we had three
fantastic dogs (One
of which has passed). |
| Our first feathered friend was "Max". He
is a Sun Conure, that we traveled to 3
different counties to find and he was 12
weeks old. On our travels we saw a lot of
birds and fell in love with each one that we
saw but after a lot of consideration, Max
was the one. After bringing Max home and
discovering just how much joy and fun he
brought into our lives we decided that we
would look for another forever feathered friend. |
| It did not take us very long to realize
that there are so many birds out there that
after being purchased in stores, flea
markets, ect, are now in need of new forever
homes with parents who understand that a
bird is for life and deserves so much more
than just to look pretty in a cage. |
| Every where you go you will find rescue
centers for dogs and cats along with other
domestic animals, but rescue centers for
birds are not so easy to find or funded
anything like to the same extent. We decided
that we would do what we could to help and
started to rescue birds, which led to more
than we ever imagined. |

To see the way birds were treated and the environment that some of them were kept in horrified us and we found ourselves purchasing various parrots, purely and simply to take them out of their current situations to provide them with the love, care, attention and interaction that all pet birds should have and need. |
| As you can imagine. Our expenses grew very quickly. We have been been in business for over 10 years with our nautical web site ( www.seasidetreasures.com ) and manage everything in house as a family business. With that and a few years later: We decided that we would create "Parrot Island Toys" as a way to do what ever we can to help supply funds to help save the many birds that need help. Toys, Cages, Correct diet and Avian Veterinary care can get very expensive. We began making our own toys and in the process thought it would be a great idea if bird owners could buy just about anything they need from one place and also support a good cause at the same time. |
| Everyday for us is an
adventure with our flock. Silence only ever happens
during sleep time, watching TV or talking on the phone is
not permitted. The vacuum cleaner
is going constantly. Food and
toys are flying everywhere. But
everyday is filled with love and
trust, laughter and happiness.
Everyday we look into their
eyes and see the love radiating
back. That alone is worth
everything and all the reward we
need. |
